Do you sense you’ve lost your way in your spiritual journey?
I walk through one door and find the next door padlocked. Yet, as I turn around, the door behind me has closed, too. I find myself plagued by indecision and doubt.
How did I get here, Lord?
When I finally get past my distress and ask this question, I’m reminded that the Lord promises to always be with me. In Matthew 28:20, Jesus promised, “I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age” (Matt. 28:20 The Message).
It’s never easy to ignore doubts and fears when circumstances overwhelm me. But when I focus on God’s promises, his truth enables me to overcome my feelings of hopelessness.
Often, my emotions paralyze me. And I’m tempted to give up. In those times, meditating on God’s Word helps me turn my back on debilitating thinking.
When things look hopeless, God promises to guide me through the dark times with the light of his Word. “By your words I can see where I’m going; they throw a beam of light on my dark path” (Ps. 119:105 The Message).
