Waiting in line
The car in front of you is holding the line up. You feel your blood pressure rising. The teacher is waving her hands and yelling, trying to get the driver to move.
Do I honk? Nah!
Racing against time
Everyone looks like they are running around like a chicken with its head cut off (as my mother used to say)—the kids, the teachers, and the parents. Don’t they know that these days will pass before they know it?
Slow down; you’re making me nervous!
The noise
I forgot how loud kids can get in the car, until I joined my daughter, Tara, on her carpool rounds.
“Move your backpack, so I can sit down!”
“Quit pushing me!”
“Can we stop for a slush?”
“Wait. Are you talking to me?” My head is spinning, and my ears are ringing.
Yes, I often miss the good ol’ days of carpool. My kids grew up too fast!
But wait . . . I can always run carpool for my grandkids.
Or not.
Do you have a carpool memory? Be sure to share it with another mom who may need a little encouragement today.
